  • Follow-up workshops

We offer workshops for all of our plays. In two school hours, we playfully follow up the visited play with your students with its different topics. Either at your school (applies to Berlin schools) or at our theatre (depending on capacity).

  • Team spirit – Hold together! Workshop offer for all Berlin secondary schools.

A good classroom atmosphere is the basis for productive learning together - theater can make a big contribution here.

Following a visit to the GRIPS Theater, the free workshop “Zusammen Halt!” (“Hold it together!”) comes to the school and gives young people the chance not only to see theater, but also to become active with theater themselves. Our theater pedagogues particularly choose methods that strengthen the team spirit in the class. After a visit to the play, we are happy to come to the school for a double lesson (90 minutes).

Depending on the age group, we particularly recommend visits to plays such as Das schönste Mädchen der Welt, Upload Virgin, Princess, #diewelle, Alle außer das Einhorn or Linie 1.

A project of GRIPS Werke e.V. in cooperation with the GRIPS Theater.

“With the kind support of Berliner Sparkasse”

  • Team spirit - ‘ A great team! Workshop offer for all Berlin primary schools & support centres

When groups from primary schools see a production at the GRIPS theatre, they are keen to get involved in the play themselves after watching it. The free workshop ‘ Great team!’ at school or at the GRIPS Theatre is intended to give children the opportunity to experience this and at the same time strengthen the team.

Especially when groups come together for the first time, as is the case when children start school, it is important for the class to grow together and develop cohesion in order to promote personal development and competences.

After attending a play, freelance theatre teachers are happy to come to the school for a double lesson (90 minutes).

Depending on the age group, we particularly recommend visits to plays such as ‘BUMM,KRACH,BOING!’, ‘Woche-Woche’, ‘Zum Glück viel Geburtstag’, ‘Alle außer das Einhorn’, ‘Princess’ or ‘Irgendwo da oben’. A project by GRIPS Werke e.V. in cooperation with the GRIPS theatre. ‘With the kind support of the Playmobil Children's Foundation’

  • Special workshop: A simulation game on the topic of National Socialism

In connection with the performances of "Ab heute heißt du Sara", "#die Welle" and "Das Heimatkleid", it is possible to book a free workshop on the subject of National Socialism and dictatorship:

"Ecomisia" - A simulation game on the topic of National Socialism

Aleksi, Aino, Boas, Lihda, Silja and Var live in the (fictional) state of Ecomisia and have just finished school. Now they are taking their first steps towards an independent life, choosing a training and career, finding their own apartment and building up a new circle of friends. They are confronted with difficult decisions, as the state of Ecomisia becomes increasingly authoritarian as the game progresses. If you want to be successful, you have to fit in. Dissenting opinions are sanctioned.
Within the game, the participants have room for maneuver in which they can position themselves - with the corresponding consequences - as perpetrators, victims, confidants or "silent heroes".
With its action-oriented and activating approach, the "Ecomisia" simulation game creates an innovative framework for reshaping memory. The game biographies are (loosely) linked to the life stories of people during the National Socialist era. This offers a wide range of opportunities to take up the topic and then explore it in more depth in class.

    When: by arrangement

Who: two facilitators run the simulation game with a class

Where: at the school (a room as large as possible, more details on booking) or at the GRIPS Theater premises

Duration: 3 hours (incl. 30 minutes preparation in the room)

Concept: Stefanie Kaluza and Georg Piller

The simulation game "Ecomisia" is a project of the GRIPS Theater with the support of the Inge-Deutschkron-Stiftung and the Museum Blindenwerkstatt Otto Weidt

  • Enjoy theater

Theater is a sensual experience where every time you watch or listen to something, you can enjoy it. But how does watching actually work? Our new workshop “Enjoying theater” shows school classes how to enjoy a theater play before going to a play and make it a lasting memory.

  • Advice for “Performing Games” courses

As long as we have the capacity, we offer your theatre groups and course participants free advice as part of “Performing Games” courses. We will come to you and help with questions about piece development and performance. Can be booked for free instead of a follow-up.

  • Follow-up talks

On request, we offer a follow-up discussion to every morning performance, where the audience can ask the actors involved questions about the play and their work.

    Regular follow-up discussions:

    • For the play "#diewelle2020" we offer regular follow-up discussions with experts and the ensemble in cooperation with Gesicht Zeigen! Für ein weltoffenes Deutschland, e.V., the mobile counselling service against right-wing extremism and the Omas Gegen Rechts (grannies against right-wing extremism).
    • For the play "NASSER#7Leben" we regularly offer follow-up talks with Nasser El-Ahmad.

Duration: approx. 20 minutes after a performance

  • Guided tours

At the moment we are unfortunately unable to offer guided tours due to the current Senate decisions to contain the Corona pandemic.

We offer free guided tours of the theatre. We go backstage with your students, give them an insight into the professions and the different departments of the theatre and what is needed backstage to make a performance happen. This offer is only available Monday to Friday mornings for school classes or other groups of children and young people and in conjunction with a visit to a performance at the GRIPS Theater am Hansaplatz.

Duration of the guided tour: approx. 30 minutes | Maximum number of participants: 30 people
