Lutz Hübner

Lutz Hübner has been a freelance writer and director in Berlin since 1996. In 1998, he was awarded the German Youth Theater Prize for Das Herz eines Boxers. In 2005, his play Hotel Paraiso was invited to the Berlin Theater Festival. Plays such as Gretchen 89 ff., Ehrensache, and Blütenträume have made Lutz one of the most frequently performed contemporary playwrights on German stages. In 2008, he received the Honorable Mention from Assitej International.  The productions of his plays Geisterfahrer at the Staatstheater Hannover and Die Firma dankt at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden were invited to the Mülheim Theater Days. In 2011, Lutz was awarded the Assitej Author’s Prize. Hübner and Nemitz’s hit play Frau Müller muss weg was adapted for the screen by Sönke Wortmann and released in German theaters in 2015.  His plays have been translated into over a dozen languages and are performed all over the world. Many of his plays are created in collaboration with Sarah Nemitz.
