Jörg Westphal was born in Suhl, Thuringia, in 1968.
After graduating from high school and completing his military service, he first trained as a nurse and worked in that profession.
From 1994 to 1998, Jörg studied acting at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theater in Leipzig.
While still a student, he was engaged by theaters in Meiningen, Chemnitz, Cottbus, and Dresden.

From 1998 to 2012, he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the GRIPS Theater Berlin. He performed in the original production of the legendary Line 1 approximately 900 times. He can still be seen there today as a guest in AB HEUTE HEISST DU SARA (From Today You Are Called Sara).
This was followed by engagements at the Hans Otto Theater Potsdam and the Schlosspark Theater Berlin.
However, he has appeared in numerous film and television productions, both nationally and internationally.
He lives with his family in Berlin.
