Benjamin Tienti

Benjamin Tienti was born in 1981 in Esslingen am Neckar. His parents are of Palestinian, Czech, Algerian, and French descent—but as a child, he learned only German. Benjamin worked as a residential care worker in supervised living groups, and later as a school social worker with children facing particularly difficult life circumstances. Since the age of 17, he has regularly published short stories and essays in punk magazines under various pseudonyms. Benjamin currently lives in Berlin, where he has been helping to further develop school social work at an elementary school in Neukölln since 2008. In addition to his work at the school and writing, Benjamin plays the drum machine in the indie band “Mambo Albano,” and in his free time, he loves watching YouTube cooking channels. In 2018, he received the German-French Youth Literature Prize for his debut children’s book, “Salon Salami.”
