Marcus Youssef

was born in Montréal and is the son of Egyptian parents. He works as a writer, director, activist, actor and journalist. His plays have been translated into several languages and performed worldwide in theatres and at renowned festivals such as the Dublin Theatre Festival, Brno Festival in the Czech Republic and Foreign Affairs in Berlin. Since 2005, he has also been artistic director and co-director of the Neworld Theatre in Vancouver and was awarded the most important Canadian theatre prize, the Siminovitch Award, in 2017.
